Interested in Seeing 500 Days of Summer for FREE?
Then I recommend you RSVP immediately.
I don’t know how typical mass-screenings like these are but Fox Searchlight has currently opened up registration to see 500 Days of Summer for free at select theaters with multiple screenings at various theaters throughout the US: New Orleans, Memphis, Denver, Houston, Austin, Kansas City, Cleveland, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, San Antonio, Minneapolis, Seattle, Chicago and Portland. Some of the earliest screenings I saw were on July 7th. June 8th!
Seats are obviously limited so I recommend you spread the word quickly and RSVP right away. Tweet this post and send the link to friends, I’ll update this post later today with more details that I hope to receive from Fox Searchlight, though perhaps by then there will be no remaining seats!
Post a comment below to let us know where you’ll be seeing 500 Days of Summer this summer for free! Just to throw it out there, I’ll be at the July 8th screening in Buffalo.
Update: All screenings are in the afternoon/ evening: any 7:30am times listed are in fact in the evening (PM)! The system was suffering through some glitches on its first day.
Update (May 28): Keep checking back for more cities and more screenings! Toronto, Washington DC, New York, Dallas and Los Angeles have recently been added.

I really wanna see this film!

Aww, too bad it’s already been shown here in Atlanta at the film festival. I need to see it again, July is too far away.
RetroPop on May 27, 2009
Hopefully I can make the showing in San Diego!
Hailey on May 27, 2009
So the Kansas City Show is at 7:30 in the AM?
Also do you know if there should be a confirmation e-mail?
Dane on May 27, 2009
Yes, you should receive a confirmation email — it tells you to print it out and bring it to the screening!
Marc on May 27, 2009

I’ve got a golden ticket for July 16th in Detroit, I can’t wait.
Christine on Jun 9, 2009
I really, really want to see this film, but all the D.C. shows have no more capacity. Think I could just show up anyway?!
Michelle on Jun 11, 2009
Or you can be a Yelper and go right into the theatre without waiting in that horrible line =/
Ivy on Jun 12, 2009
I’m super disappointed that all 3 screenings in St. Louis are gone.

I registered for a screening, the website said I’d be getting an e-mail shortly, and it’s been five days or so, and I still haven’t received an e-mail! Anyone know what to do/who to contact?
Stephanie on Jul 3, 2009
Ditto on Stephanie’s post above…. registered about 4 or 5 days ago for the Tampa Westshore show, but no email yet. Any clue for that contact?
Adam on Jul 6, 2009
@26,27: I recommend you guys arrive really early and talk to the organizers? Or try to RSVP again and take screenshots and print those. Hope you get to see it!

Check your spam folder…
Wayne on Jul 7, 2009
thanks for the help and suggestions, guys. the confirmation finally popped up in my inbox 6 days later. Strange, but i’ll definitely take it. keeping my finger’s crossed that stephanie and anyone else having this issue got an email too… now i’m really psyched!
Adam on Jul 8, 2009
Mine was for the Tampa Westshore show as well, and my e-mail just arrived in my Inbox this evening, too. Definitely strange that it took a week, but now I’m sooooo excited my friend and I get to see this movie on Thursday!
Stephanie on Jul 8, 2009
it said in the email that you aren’t guaranteed a seat, has anyone been turned away? or have things gone smoothly as long as you have the email print out and such?
amy on Jul 8, 2009
I was turned away last night… It was full. :(
Wayne on Jul 8, 2009
:[ sorry wayne. my screening is tomorrow, and im kind of nervous about getting a seat. any advice?
amy on Jul 8, 2009
Well, I got there like 25 mins before it started and they were turning a lot of people away. This was in Minneapolis btw. So I’d say go really early, like a hour to 45 mins early.
Wayne on Jul 8, 2009
So the general consensus is that we should just wait the few days for the email confirmation and it’ll come? =/
Lindsay on Jul 10, 2009
would love to see it in DC!
AC on Jul 15, 2009
Really thrilled to see this – regardless of whether or not it’s free to do so. :)
abby on Jul 17, 2009
I called the theater where the free screening was supposed to take place, because I hadn’t received a confirmation email. They didn’t even know what I was talking about. I am NOT happy about this.
Lindsay on Jul 18, 2009
How long ago did you register and when’s your screening? The confirmation e-mail for my show came in over a WEEK after I originally registered and only about 2 days before the actual screening itself. I had pretty much given up. If it’s only been a few days, you could wait for it (because chances are it may come) or try registering again, with a different e-mail address. Good luck!
