A Guide to the Official 500 Days of Summer Site
http://www.foxsearchlight.com/500daysofsummer is now totally interactive. Check it out for some new features, including the ability to groove to a few songs from the film.
Our guide to the site and a list of all the new features and new photos after the jump.
Feel free to open the new site and explore along with me. I’ve gone over the new site to make sure you don’t miss anything; there’s a lot of nice 500 Days of Summer gems lying for you to discover. Post in the comments if you come across any Easter eggs!
Don’t overlook the “Menu” link in the bottom left of the main animated area of the site. This allows you to access to the good stuff: tons of detailed information about each of the key cast and crew including bios and photos are now posted along with a small “About the Film” feature.

The most obvious new element of the site is “Explore” which allows you to scroll through 500 Days of Summer in still-form. Each listed day has some text along with a photo. These kind of act like little bonus featured you’d find on the DVD. I haven’t found anything too spoilerish but there is some cool stuff that really only adds to the experience after you’ve seen the film. And there are still cities being added to the free screenings so you can probably see 500 Days of Summer sooner than later.
What you can really get excited about are the 500 Days of Summer Wallpapers which you can find under a new Downloads section! (One of the wallpapers features a favorite scene from the movie. You might want to avoid this section of the site to avoid spoilers if you haven’t yet seen the movie.) AIM users can also download AIM icons for 500 Days of Summer. (I don’t use AIM but I see icons like this everywhere and assume people use them.)
Marc Webb gets some much deserved love with a new photo of him in action in the Photos section of the site. You can watch all of the 500 Days of Summer videos streaming there as well. Check out all the different 500 Days of Summer photos we’ve posted too.

The official site also links out to all of the other Fox Searchlight sites for 500 Days we’ve announced on this site as well, like the 500 Days of Summer Micro Review site (to share your own review of the movie!) and the site that allows you to insert your photos into the 500 Days of Summer poster. Another great official blog is the blog by ‘Sup Magazine.
All in all an impressive site that will likely see a few minor updates over the weeks. I’ve really been enjoying all the unique promotion Fox Searchlight has been doing for the film. I can wait for the film to be released and for it to start getting the crazy amount of attention it deserves! So keep spreading the word and share this site with your friends and family. Almost a month to the official release!

I’ll have to take your word word about the website. I’m sure it’s fantastic!! All I’m seeing is a grey screen where the icons and the main page should be at. I’m running Safari 3.23 on a Mac w/ OS ver 10.4.11. Tried it with Firefox with the same problem. Everything is up to date. Does the website not play well w/ Mac? Any suggestions?
