Split-Screen Behind the Scenes Video from

Here’s how Zooey Deschanel sets up a behind the scenes look at one of Joesph Gordon-Levitt’s scenes in 500 Days of Summer:

“Who doesn’t love Hall & Oates?” says Zooey. “Well, I’m sure there are some people who don’t. But there’s something so undeniable about the scene and the way ‘You Make My Dreams’ plays into it. Joe’s a great dancer.

“We actually did a sort of promo dance sequence last week,” she continues, “that will be on the internet. I can’t tell you any more. You’ll see! That was actually to one of my songs. I had suggested an early Marvin Gaye track, but it’s difficult with rights sometimes. Marc was listening to She & Him and was like, ‘Hey can we use one of your songs?’ We gave him a good deal.”

Note: This is spoilerish. You can always come back after you’ve seen the film.

The Fierce Sensitivity of Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joesph Gordon-LevittNew York Magazine’s Summer Guide just published a feature on 500 Days of Summer’s Joesph Gordon-Levitt. A fantastic write-up by Logan Hill that is sure to impress. Be sure to check out the article that includes comments by Zooey Deschanel and Marc Webb.

I’ve heard executives say, ‘Audiences are stupid, kids are stupid,’ but that’s not going to fly anymore [...] it’s the same with how love stories are told in movies. 500 Days of Summer wouldn’t have made sense in our parents’ generation. It reminds me so much of 2009.
