Marc Webb’s Guest Blogging; Got Questions?

Marc Webb will be guest blogging on FirstShowing.net for the next few weeks up until the release of 500 Days of Summer. He made his first post today:
These were the very first virgin eyes to check out our flick. And when we got our numbers back we were right – women liked 500 Days of Summer. It’s a romantic comedy. No big surprise. But there was something else.
The dudes liked it too.
Not only did the dudes like it. The dudes liked it MORE than the women. The numbers for the women were great but the numbers for the guys were off the charts. They were on par with some very successful male driven action fare and hard edged comedies. For a romantic comedy? A romcom? What the fuck?
Yep, Marc Webb is awesome and you should expect all his blog posts to be just as entertaining as this one. By the way, he is also taking any questions and ideas for subjects. Send an email to Alex at FirstShowing.net and he’ll pass them on to Marc.
I’ll be sure to update you here whenever Marc makes a post but FirstShowing.net is a fantastic site about new movies you might want to check out if you don’t already.
One last thing: Reading Marc’s post got me even more pumped about 500 Days of Summer and it should do the same for you: we are lucky enough to be following this unbelievably good, upcoming film but surprisingly a lot of people still don’t know about it! Be sure to share your love and links you find entertaining to get more people interested in the film–there are buttons on this site to make it easy to share on Facebook and Twitter. Let’s make sure 500 Days of Summer doesn’t go unnoticed when it is released July 17th!
June 11th, 2009A Guide to the Official 500 Days of Summer Site

June 3rd, 2009500 Days of Summer Soundtrack
I’ve been expecting the 500 Days of Summer Soundtrack info to be released sometime this week and I just received an email with the ridiculously juicy details!
The 500 Days of Summer Soundtrack will hit store shelves on July 14th through Sire Records, three days before the film officially opens in theaters. The track listing is almost too good to be true. Seriously. Check out the full listing after the jump.
May 28th, 2009Share your 500 Days of Summer Micro-Review!
Share your micro-review and be featured on 500DOS.net, a new site that allows fans who have seen the film to post their reviews of 500 Days of Summer. The catch? The reviews must not exceed 140 characters! All reviews are posted via Twitter and Facebook. (Cool integration.)
Trying to get all your thoughts down to a concise 140 characters will be pretty difficult, but if you’ve seen 500 Days then take a stab at composing your own micro-review. I can’t wait to read everyone’s posts on the site.
Wait, you haven’t seen 500 Days of Summer yet? You’ve got the opportunity to catch a free screening near you before the July 17th release.
May 27th, 2009Interested in Seeing 500 Days of Summer for FREE?
Then I recommend you RSVP immediately.
I don’t know how typical mass-screenings like these are but Fox Searchlight has currently opened up registration to see 500 Days of Summer for free at select theaters with multiple screenings at various theaters throughout the US: New Orleans, Memphis, Denver, Houston, Austin, Kansas City, Cleveland, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, San Antonio, Minneapolis, Seattle, Chicago and Portland. Some of the earliest screenings I saw were on July 7th. June 8th!
Seats are obviously limited so I recommend you spread the word quickly and RSVP right away. Tweet this post and send the link to friends, I’ll update this post later today with more details that I hope to receive from Fox Searchlight, though perhaps by then there will be no remaining seats!
Post a comment below to let us know where you’ll be seeing 500 Days of Summer this summer for free! Just to throw it out there, I’ll be at the July 8th screening in Buffalo.
Update: All screenings are in the afternoon/ evening: any 7:30am times listed are in fact in the evening (PM)! The system was suffering through some glitches on its first day.
Update (May 28): Keep checking back for more cities and more screenings! Toronto, Washington DC, New York, Dallas and Los Angeles have recently been added.
April 2nd, 2009500 Days Release Date for Canada
A lot of people are wondering about when 500 Days of Summer is coming to theaters. The original release date was set for July 24th, but was recently moved up one week to July 17th. This is the release date for the United States, but with the huge reception 500 Days of Summer has been getting from all around the world, many questions have been asked about release dates for other regions.
The awesome people at Fox Searchlight have gotten back to me regarding a Canadian release date. If you live near a major Canadian city you’ll be very pleased: The official plans are to open in Toronto on July 17th, just like in the US. Shortly after on July 24th there will be a slightly wider release in Montreal and Vancouver.
For those of you outside USA and Canada… continue keeping your fingers crossed for a summer release! Any pleased Canadians out there? Leave a comment, eh? Sorry, I just had to get an “eh” in there.
