Apple Final Cut Studio 2: (15) Questions for Marc Webb and Alan Bell

This is fucking awesome, especially if you’re in any way interested in film production. A great interview with 500 Days of Summer editor Alan Bell and director Marc Webb about their vision for the film.
How did you deal with the film’s many effects?
Alan Bell: One element that was particularly interesting to work out involved the day slate scene dividers used throughout to indicate time shifts. We added a very subtle push in and pull back depending on whether we were going forward or backward in time to help clue the viewer into the direction of time travel in a simple way.
I noticed this effect; maybe not consciously until I read this interview so, very cool.
