500 Days of Summer Video Interviews

If you’re looking for a little bit of action off the screen, here are some interviews from film sites that have appeared within the past couple of days.

- James Wallace’s interviews at Gordon and the Whale are always really enjoyable to watch. The guys at GATW cannot get enough of 500 Days of Summer and have posted two more interviews. One chat (James’ third) with director Marc Webb in a romantically lit room as well as an interview with writers Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber.

joe-gordon-levitt interview

- FilmDaddy.com has several exclusive videos for 500 Days of Summer: red carpet interviews with Joe Gordon-Levitt and director Marc Webb and a more in-depth, sit down with Marc. One thing I really like about FilmDaddy is how great their videos look!

- GeekTyrant has nothing but great things to say about 500 Days of Summer and has posted a series of interviews with cast and crew on their site.

Dallas: This isn’t a love contest…it’s a contest about love.

Those fine words are from Gordon and the Whale in Dallas, which is running a contest for 5 sets of tickets to an advance screening there. Included with two tickets is a prize pack full of 500 Days of Summer goodies. The contest ends soon and the chances (at this point) of winning are very high! Check out the details at gordonandthewhale.com.

500 Days of Summer Red Carpet Interviews (Update: added a response from JGL!)

James Wallace of Gordon and the Whale was off doing some cool interviews with some of the stars of 500 Days of Summer at the CineVegas red carpet premiere.

Watch the video below for Joe Gordon-Levitt, director Marc Webb, and screenwriters Michael Weber and Scott Neustadter.

UPDATE: Joe has posted the video on the front page of his site, HitRecord.org! He also posted this response to the interview:

This is really refreshing for me to see. I just got done doing about a week straight of interviews about 500 Days of Summer. Interviews are not generally my favorite part of the job. Usually they’re sort of hum-drum and at times they’re even quite demeaning. But you, sir, just wanted to RECord a thoughtful conversation about the movie, and I wish they could all be like that. Thank you. When I get some more spare time, I’ll go find the footage from my camera, and we can make this a two-sided RECord. Thanks again.

Way to rock, Chase and James from GATW!

Sweeeeet Disposition… Interview w/ The Temper Trap

While in Austin for SxSW, we searched out the guys in The Temper Trap, who were cool enough to sit down with us for a few minutes and chat…in a 70s era Winnebago…despite playing three shows in a row that day. Enjoy this exclusive one-on-two, filmed by a very uncomfortably positioned Chase, with a couple of the boys from the band!

Thanks to Gordon and the Whale for passing on their interview with The Temper Trap. If you don’t recognize the artist, give the video a watch and you should recognize their song pretty quickly. Surprisingly, the band hadn’t even seen the movie yet when this was recorded.

A really enjoyable interview! Check out Gordon and the Whale’s interviews with Zooey and Joe too.

Interview with Zooey Deschanel at SxSW

Another great clip from Gordon and the Whale. Here’s what James Wallace had to say about his interview with 500 Days of Summer’s Summer:

The interviews we are given are always a privilege, but every once in awhile one comes along that is special. When it is for a film that truly affected me. When it is with a director or actors I really admire. When it is with people that I can connect with on a level more than interviewer/interviewee. For me, the interviews for (500) DAYS OF SUMMER with Director Marc Webb, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel were that kind of special.

Update: Gordon and the Whale has posted their face-to-face interviews with Marc Webb and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as well!

video posted: 500 Days of Summer Q&A from SXSW

Thanks to James Wallace from gordon and the whale dot com for filming and posting the Q&A that followed the 500 Days of Summer screening at South by Southwest. “Check out their post-film Q&A for what not to do if you are in a giant theater and you want to ask Zooey D. out on a date.” The panel consists of writers Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, Matthew Gray Gubler (who plays Paul), Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Zooey Deschanel, and director Marc Webb.

Some of the topics that are covered include some of the inspiration for the film, how some music was chosen and symbolism behind the color blue. Definitely a Q&A directed to people who have already seen the film (obviously) but enjoyable either way!

Just over 18 minutes. Video after the break below.
