500 Days of Summer Walking Tour in LA
I just recieved an email about a 500 Days of Summer Walking Tour, guided by Marty Cummins, key assistant location manager for “(500) Days” and Harry Medved, co-author of the SoCal movie location guidebook, “Hollywood Escapes.”
The tour is free with optional donations benefiting Los Angeles Conservancy, a historic preservation organization (something Tom could get behind.)
Sunday, August 30, 3-6 pm
Meet at Old Bank DVD 400 S. Main Street (at 4th street)
Downtown Los Angeles

See firsthand some of the historic locations featured in the hit film “(500) Days of Summer,” and revisit a century of filming in downtown Los Angeles! Join us for a Sunday afternoon walking tour with Marty Cummins, key assistant location manager for “(500) Days” and Harry Medved, co-author of the SoCal movie location guidebook, “Hollywood Escapes.”
In addition to seeing some great examples of historic architecture, we’ll screen the film’s “Bank Heist” music video companion piece, starring Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, shot at downtown’s Farmers & Merchants Bank Building. And we’ll celebrate 100 years of filming in downtown Los Angeles by screening clips of old movies shot in downtown L.A.
There’s no charge, although donations are welcome. Medved will be selling copies of “Hollywood Escapes” before and after the tour, with proceeds going directly to the Conservancy. Bring comfortable walking shoes for the 100 or so steps to the Angels’ Knoll Bench!
500 Days of Summer tour locations include:
Old Bank DVD (video & record store) – starting place
Barclay Hotel (café where Tom’s friends hang out)
Harlem Alley (French black & white fantasy sequence)
Bradbury Building (Tom takes an important meeting)
Angels’ Knoll Bench (Tom’s favorite spot)
Redwood Bar & Grill (Tom & Summer karaoke scene) – final stop, where we’ll hang out over dinner & drinks

I’m there…I was very inspired by the film to take a closer look at LA for the beautiful city it is and not just the celebrity center of the world.
